Improving primary health care through eHealth

With the aim of improving the quality of care and contributing to the reduction of infant mortality, IeDA continues its extension beyond the protocol of Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) to leverage its expertise on the issue of epidemiological surveillance and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in Burkina Faso.

With support from ECHO, Tdh launched on 1 April 2018 a 27-month epidemiological surveillance project in three health districts (Ouahigouya, Toma and Titao) in the North region, covering 105 health facilities, 13 communes and 591 villages. These are areas where IeDA is already deployed.

The objective is to create an alert, monitoring and follow-up system to allow better preparation and reaction of the system and the actors with regard to health risks and natural disasters.  The data collected via the IeDA’s REC application will be used to send real-time alerts on the volumes of consultations and pathologies identified to health officials so that they immediately implement risk management measures.
